Salutations! That's my way of saying, "hello."
This greeting is a tribute to my diva daughter, Charlotte. She lost her first tooth today. She had been wiggling that tooth for nearly two weeks. Today was the day. A corndog was the answer. I now have one question: what is the going rate for teeth? I mean, how much does the Tooth Fairy leave nowadays? Has she adjusted the amount to account for inflation? Was she bailed out in the stimulus bill? Answers please!

As most know, I was on vacation last week in beautifully hot Branson, Missouri. Well, I am still on vacation...only I'm at home. I am technically still on vacation until next week, so I have been keeping myself in holiday mode by reading magazines and my cell phone and Adobe Photo Elements handbooks, EATING bad foods, spraying Hawaiian Tropics Glade throughout my house, and staying up way too late. I've also done some baking. For those not in the know, I used to bake a lot. I even decorated and sold cakes. Unfortunately, I haven't done much baking in the last few years. But today, I started to make up for lost time. I first accomplished a miracle with regard to rice pudding! Backstory: I used to live in England, the land of rice pudding, tweed, and not straight roads. I have been attempting to re-create the rice pudding I used to eat there for the last several years. I am sure the only ingredients in this pudding my family made was rice, milk (I think one pint; yes, there was a milk man that brought milk in glass pints), sugar, cinammon, and butter. These are combined and BAKED, not cooked stovetop in a double broiler! I've tried and tried, but no success...until today. I found a recipe at
All Recipes UK/IRELAND that comes super close to the real deal. I had to convert the amounts and oven temperature at another website, but it turned out yummy! The only real difference is that I am sure no eggs were used in the real deal, but one was called for in the All Recipes instructions. Oh, and for the record, castor sugar is not sugar sugar...but sugar sugar (aw honey honey..you are my dancing queen...) works. No need to get super technical right? Rice length, on the other hand, is important. Short grain is used for puddings...NOT long grain!

Unfortunately, my husband doesn't like rice pudding (fortunate for me!). So, I also made another dessert: a fruit pizza! Remember when these seemed to be a rage? Everyone brought one for the office party, school event, etc. Did I miss something? Why do them seem like they are extinct? Anyway, I think mine turned out beautiful! It also tasted sinfully good.

At this rate, I may not be able to fit into my work clothes at the end of my vacation! Maybe I'll have to add shopping to my staycation itinerary!
